Hello Everyone,

I am just curious if anyone knew of any good links to sites, NG's or your own personal experience about alternative living. What I mean is living and traveling inexpensively.

I am trying to find out what I need to do and what I am in for when I decide to do things like long-term backpack travel, living here in the US inexpensively and things like that. You know, ways other people get by that does not fit into the norms of modern society. Travel does not have to be a big part of this. And no I am not talking about being a vagrant with a backpack and that's all. (Maybe sometimes!) I am really just curious and want to find and read as much as I can on the subject. I hope you got what I was saying because it is pretty difficult to get all the details down.

I anyone also knows a great resource about living in RV's and all that goes with it. Please post some info or links! Solar powered-related things would be useful as well. (yes yes... I know I am jumping everywhere)

Thanks again,

I once had an employee that pitched a tent in back of the place of employment and lived there for the better part of a year. He stunk like a walrus at the time, and if he had been in contact with the public, he would have had to have been fired. If you live by yourself in the woods, there is nobody to hear you stink.

I think the Unabomber managed to live very cheaply. Now there was an alternative lifestyle!

I have used my car as a camper when traveling...slept at rest areas...eat in car...ice for cooler gets expensive and needs to be replaced about every 2 days...staying clean is important...if you can't get a shower...I found I could take a bath on the road using about a gallon of water and a washcloth...KOA campgrounds are clean and a good place to get out of the car and tent.

Try alt.rv and rec.outdoors.rv-travel.

I live full time in a motorhome and follow the warm weather. I'm in Phoenix right now. Temp is in the 80s.

cheers
