I'm leaving for Morocco in about a weeks time, I'm going to be travelling in the High Atlas and the South. I'm just wondering what sort of Anti Western feelings there are likely to be in the aftermath of any Bush/Blair attack on Iraq which appears to be imminent.

Don't worry about it!

Greetings,

My guess would be pretty close to zero. I was just there about a month ago, and experienced nothing but condolences and concern.

None at all. First, Morocco is an unusual blend of cultures, with a lot that is western about it - there is a lot of knowledge about the West. Secondly, an overwhelmingly predominant feature of the society is its tolerance. Thirdly, Moroccans are a charming and hospitable people. Fourthly, they regard tourism as one of the major industries of the country and will not jeopardise it. They may or may not agree with US actions, but they will not be impolite about their disagreement, if any - besides, there are many in the West who disagree and this is also recognised. Their response to you will be determined by your personal behaviour - courtesy and friendliness will receive an equivalent response. My wife and I got back from there in January and she is already making plans for a return.
