I travel into India several times per year and often will see young lady's hoofing down a dirt road by themselves or in groups of two and three. Myself, I would be scared to even get out of my vehicle and often have wondered if anybody has ever been hassled by the local population in India. I surely would not accept any kind of meals in some of those places.

i guess it depends on what you mean by hassled. i get lots of them trying to peddle their goods at me. others say hello or hi over and over again. one guy in delhi grabbed my girl friends breast. a guy in shimla told me i was fat. i too have been offered food or tea, which i never accept from strangers. one friend was drugged on a bus that way. he accepted an orange drink from a stranger going from delhi to shimla. when he awoke, all his money was gone, and he felt terrible for two weeks.... will i ever go back to india ? .... hell ya, i love it there.
