Hello all,
I am probably travelling to Lagos and Kano in mid May, on business. I've had a lot of experience travelling all over East, Central, and Southern Africa, but the only place I've ever been in West Africa was Accra for a few days.
Frankly, the stories one hears about Lagos are frightening. Are they real, or just hype? Because of these stories, this is the first trip that I'm actually feeling aprehensive about before I leave. I don't expect Western European type airports, service, or facilities, but how different is Lagos from say, Kampala or Kinshasa or Luanda or Lusaka?
Any meaningful feedback will be much appreciated, as well as tips etc.
Regards,
Marc - Johannesburg, South Africa.

My next-door neighbour did a two year stint in Nigeria. His immediate line manager met him from the plane and took him to his accommodation, rushing away with an apology and 'I've got to go to the police station. I'm up for murder'. turns out one or other of them were 'up for murder/rape' with alarming regularity! Anyway, when his two years were up, he was asked to do another two years, but flat refused, even when they offered to double his salary. Which worked out fine for him, because he got a job in Oman, which he loved.
