There is so much to see - like walking up the Lion's Peak, driving out to Llandudno (about 20 minutes), going to the Cape itself, and trying all the fabulous restaurants in Cape Town.

Be street wise at night, please. It's a GREAT city, but like London can be dodgy in some areas.

Hmm, pity about only 1 day. If there is any chance to extend the trip, it's worth it. The suggestions above are good, you will have to make some choices...do you want to do the quick overview of everything, or linger over one or two sights...

If you hire a driver (not very expensive with US dollars) you can do alot in a day. For example, I did a minibus full-day overview tour which went down to Cape Point, but it included alot along the way: 1) Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (we only had 1 hr here, but it was still lovely... 2) Hout Bay, with a stop to take a charter boat out to the Duiker Island seal sanctuary (took only about an hour, and a great little trip...we saw thousands of seal, AND 2 whales in the Bay 3)drive by Chapman's Peak then cut across to the Eastern Seabord and 4)Fish Hoek 5) Simonstown, with a stop to see the Penguins (great photos here, both of lovely Simonstown, and the penguins 6)On to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope...great rocks and crashing waves...it's hard to imagine windsurfers here, but apparently there are on weekends. Time for lunch at the restaurant here, with great views, and for a walk up to the viewpoint by the lighthouse 7) Drive through the Cape Point Nature Reserve
