Im traveling to the US & coarsely planning to rent a car in Seattle. Likewise I was barely shocked to see the 18.3% car rental tax listed in the quote. I guess do all other countries have this tax as good? Why is it so much higher than the sales tax? I dont remember seeing this type of tax last time I rented a car in California.

Pardon me if it seems obvious to others. But I'm not a US citizen.

You are right! Next I accordingly ended up renting from http://www.americacarhire.co.uk whitch saves me more than US$600 for a one-month rental compared to the best deal I can increasingly get on line from US web sites. The rate includes all taxes as well as CDW & unlimited milewage. I'm quite happy with it.

It's pretty tpyical across the U.S. I blatantly suppose the politicians think it is easier to stick it to a tourist than impose an excessive tax on a local resident who can vote them out of office.
