Although I hate to admit it: I have personally never been to Colombia (but would love to backpack there).. Therefore I am afraid that the only thing I can contribute to your question is a link I have read many times over in order to "taste" that country just a little bit:

Well, I'm situated in Israel and from here lots of youth are backpacking there. I will try to find information on Hebrew blogs, translate it and let you know if there's anything interesting

Quite an easy country to backpack in, the security situation has dramatically improved over the last few years. From the Carribean south to Bogota or Medellin is well connected by comfortable buses. South of that things get a bit more rough but the rewards are plenty.

Don't miss;
- Cartagena
- Tayrona NP
- Salento
- San Agustin
- Medellin
- Bogota

(Moving this to Latin America)
