One of the most annoying things while traveling, is reaching an absolutely beautiful spot, but being unable to enjoy it because previous passers through left there trash behind.
Different countries treat or ignore this problem differently, according to the local culture, some times and also, it seems according to their lively hoods.
Belize for example, has a high awareness of the damaging effects of litter, probably because much of there economy is based on tourism.
It seems that not only do they have official “Do Not Litter” signs, but also a lot of home made signs, which, I would think to be very effective.
Elizabeth from Go Green Traveler posted a series of photo’s of such like signs - I couldn’t help but re post this one here.
