Hi
It might be a strange question, but I wondered if anyone had any advice on the following:
I am planning a year long RTW trip starting in August this year and am consious of the fact that I wear contact lenses / glasses and am as blind as a bat without them !
My contact lenses are monthly renewables and have their solutions to keep them clean so would have to carry a certain amount with me, although they are not large in packaging there is the worry of them getting damaged on the way round. But on the other hand glasses are as worrying as they could well get damaged !
Should I just bin the lenses and become resound to the fact that I will be wearing glasses around the world or maybe I should pluck up the courage and have eye surgery before I go !
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

The person I travel with most is very dependent on her contact lenses. Sometimes in out-of-the-way places we have to hunt around a while looking for the requisite magic potions, and sometimes they're a bit pricey, but it's never been impossible in a big city.

It depends where you're going and what you'd be doing, of course, but I'd be partial to carrying glasses with an old(er) spare and a copy of your prescription. Lighter, safer, and less muss 'n' fuss in dusty/dirty
