hi,

I am considering to go to ireland for a few days from 2-6 april or something like that. I'm pretty interested in Irish pub life and if I have the oppertunity I'd like to visit a brewery or two as well. What city should I visit considering my interests. I think I might want to go sightseeing as well, seeing some old celtic gravestones or castles or whatever is at hand. I don't have a car and I will be going only for a few days, so i will have to keep it to one or maybe two cities if the distance is not to great. Any help (URLs, recommendations, etc) would be very welcome,

Maarten van Koppen

Cork and Galway are both fine cities.

But you'll probably find good pub life all over.

Just go.

(The only thing you should reconsider is going for longer).

regards,

John Kruiniger.

I agree. My one regret was that I didn't make it to Galway. But, Cork was brilliant! There are, of course, a lot of pubs in Dublin ... and the Guinness brewery.

If you like pubs you have to go to Dingle. There are a million pubs - the best I have seen in Ireland. The coast is very nice, too. If you need a rest from drinking...

Yes. I was in Dublin a few months ago. I wouldn't say that Dublin is the 'best place' to visit in Ireland. But, that largely depends one what you want to do. Largely the reason I went was the make a pilgrimage to the Guinness brewery. For that alone (for me), Dublin was worth the visit. If want to see the country side, Dublin isn't the best place to go. If you want a mix of city and country, the Cork/Blarney area are nice for that. Though, as I said, Galway (in the south) and Donegal (in the north) were what other travelers were talking about. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to either area.

Hi there, I was in ireland for 6 months on a horseback riding team about a year ago. I was in Adare Co. Limerick, Ireland and liked the little village quite a bit. There are pubs wherever you go. Dublin and Limerick are the 2 largest cities, though I didn't like Dublin much. So crowded! I worked for a while at the Adare Manor: http://www.adaremanor.com and also at Clonshire Equestrian Centre (http://www.clonshire.com. This will have links to more sight seeing in Adare) Even though it was really hard work, I learned a lot and was a good before-college experience. There's so much to see, really gorgeous countryside. Have fun on your trip, dont forget your umbrella!
