Normally I would post this in a 'Airline' newsgroup, but I want to run the situation past some *seasoned* travellers.
From my home Calgary Canada the best flight I can find to Lisbon, Madrid or Barcelona is about $1400 CDN. However I can easily find flights to London (Typically Gatwick) for $600-$700.
Would it be wise to book a flight to London, and then have a separate EasyJet flight from London (Gatwick) to Barcelona? The cost of the EasyJet flight is about $150 (CDN) which brings the total to $750-$850 (CDN). Considering the savings of 40% or so, would it be a wise choice? I'm mostly interested in any possible problems or hassles this may cause me. IE: Going through customs twice etc.
Any Thoughts?
Cheers, Doug Hafichuk

Indeed. I've never been to London, so the idea would be to probably kick back for 2 or 3 days anyhow. The fear of missing the second flight is a great excuse for me to use to convince myself to stya in London a couple of days!

Everything will be my trusty carry-on bag, so there shouldn't be any

Always good to hear from a fellow Canuck! I've never used Easyjet, but seems to me to be the same as Canada 3000 or Westjet, so I have a pretty good idea what I can expect. Cramped, no frills type of airline. But hey, it's cheap and doesn't last that long. (Funny, my last girlfriend said I was the same way....!)
