Flying into Los Cabos for a week

I found a really cheap flight for 8 days into los cabos down on Baja. We're interested in snorkeling, kayaking if cheap, but avoiding crowds and spring-break type scenes as much as possible. Is it worth the hassle to head up to La Paz, or are there good/bus accessible destinations closer? Thanks for the info.
