Hi all...I'd like to receive info on this part of Africa. If it's worth going there,if it's quite safe, and in particular if a girl can go there alone and travelling without a tour operator. How's during july/august? Any suggestion about everything will be very appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Ghana's totally safe! It felt much safer than Togo or Benin, and right now it's certainly safer than the Ivory Coast. There were some troubles in northern Ghana (near Yendi) about a year ago, but that has settled down pretty fast. Ghana rocks, the prices are totally low, and the people are so friendly, much more than in Togo. But Lomé is a beautiful city, so it makes up for the 'white man, you have money?' experience.

I agree. It's a great place to just go, wander around, meet people, get rides from town to town, have beers in the evening, relax, and really sink yourself into a different world.
