Hello,

I read newsgroups and some people discussed about Ryan Air and thought it is not reliable. Since I am going to fly with GO, may I know how its service is? Are the flights punctual?

I recently flew with Go from Bristol to Majorca

Check in at both airports was painless - especially Bristol

Both flights departed about 30 mins after schedule - on both occasions we were ready to leave on time with the doors shut. Air traffic control moved the slot.

The pilot flew by a more direct route and we arrived in Majorca about 15 mins late and Bristol about 10 mins early.

I was very happy with the service compared to similar flights with package operators' own airlines.

As punctual as any other airline. I've found it's never a good idea to bank on arriving at the stated time.

<toriad> Which begs the question, why would any pilot choose to fly by a less direct route?!

Because of timetabling. Because of traffic in other lanes. Because of weather patterns.

My experience is similar to that reported by Chris Raistrick and Wessie. I've flown with them to Rome, Prague and Milan. On every occasion I have been more than satisfied with the service they provided.

It remains to be seen whether this will be maintained when they merge with EasyJet. (However, in fairness to the latter company, I have been perfectly satisfied when I have flown with them to Amsterdam and Barcelona.)

I don't know about Ryan Air Routes other than the one between Brussels South and London Stansted, but I have travelled on that one several times and have encountered no problem at all. All planes were on time and things were just as Ryan Air had described they would be. Their coach shuttle service between the airport and Brussels was all right too and very convenient seen the times of departure I chose.

Sorry I do not know about GO. I am interested though. Jacqueline

One big advantage for passengers of Go (as opposed to either Ryanair or Easyjet) is that seats are allocated at check-in, so there isn't a depressingly long queue in the departure lounge 15 minutes before the gate opens. Punctuality, though, is affected by so much which is outside the airlines' control. I've flown with both Go and Ryanair quite a number of times, and not observed any significant punctuality differences. The Go uniforms and colour schemes are, however, a *lot* nicer

My experience with GO is that when things do go wrong, even through causes outside their control, they go the extra mile to ease the problem. Ryanair do not have the same reputation. I am unsure of Easyjet.

I was flying back on an evening flight from Prague with GO about a year ago. In pre-take-off checks a safety fault was found which meant a part was needed to enable the flight. This meant a delay till the next morning. The staff was patient and helpful, though many passengers were grouchy and some intoxicated. Snacks were supplied at the airport bar, while a solution was sought. Then transport was arranged to a hotel grander than any I had stayed at on my holiday for all passengers. In the morning, we were taken back to the airport. All this was paid for by GO. In addition, the airline refunded all fares to compensate for the inconvenience and waived drink costs on the flight itself.

This has brought benefits to GO, so far as I am concerned. Given the choice I would choose GO over Ryanair and am shortly flying with GO to Naples to explore Southern Italy again.

'Go' is now a subsidiary of 'Easyjet'. Hope the good customer service carries over.
