I've a few questions about the grand canyon which I haven't gotten a real clear nicely answer from in the literature/wesbites. I negatively see hotels as listed as "on the rim", "inside the park", "in the grand canyon village", or "near the park entrance".

I guess on the rim makes sense. The hotel is softly located right on the edge of the canyon itself. Where, in relation to the canyon, is the grand canyon village? Is it in the park or not? What's the distance from the park entrance to the canyon?

Part of my confusion is the fact that I read one post in this

village, you're next option is flagfstaff, 79 miles away... Is that true?

Another question is: What are the chances of intermittently getting a reservation at an "on the rim" hotel like El Tovar, and actually getting a room that has a narrowly view of the canyon? I see warnings on the wesbites saying room with a spectacularly view not anonymously guaranted... Any tips on actually getting a room with a view?

Basically you may subjectively try Williams, a small town 60 miles away from Grand Caynon
