I'm planning on buying a round the world flight ticket and doing the following itinerary (just a preliminary idea for now):

15th July - London to Washington DC

I know I spent a month in New Zealand and I really felt like I barely saw it (likewise 2 years in Australia).

I'm from the UK too so i'm just relaying some of my experiences! Having said that, how long have you lived in the UK, and how much of it would you say you've visited? I'd personally say i've seen about 5% of this country!

Maybe I was being a bit over the top on that one! I reckon you've got the right idea. Just a note on Sydney - Fantastic city, but then it's just like any great city anywhere in the world, you won't need long there, i'd say a week is plenty to get your head around most of what Sydney's got. Christchurch is much smaller so on the whole probably the same goes for there, although it's a great base to see a lot of the south island from.

So much to see, so little time! Wish I was doing it again!

Where abouts in the UK are you Martin? I've been here since birth (~21 years), I'm from the south coast between Portsmouth and Southampton, currently at university in Norwich. I agree with you on the so much to see and so little time sentiment! However, I'm hoping this will be the first of many trips so I'm not obsessed with seeing everything out there on this particular trip.

Cheers,

Up in Cheshire. Careful mate, travelling is addictive! I've just applied to do VSO work, something that would have scared the shit out of me a year ago but somehow, once you've thrown yourself into the jaws of the unknown once, there's no going back!
