My wife and I are visiting NZ early next year and are considering hiring a camper van for a couple of weeks. We guessed that this would be a good way to see the country, and the cost of hire/fuel would be offset by the money saved on accommodation and public transport. Are we right? Have you done it and got any stories or tips? We enter via
Auckland and leave via Christchurch. Although we have a flight booked between A & C - you may suggest we ferry between islands instead and cancel the flight?

Thanks! Actually, late March is our 'ETA'. How about a car/camping option? We are keen campers anyway and I imagine it does away with the need for pre-booking motels. Also, which places would you advise: "Do not miss!"?
