holidays while traveling

I am going to europe for about a year by myself, and I was wondering where people would recommend staying for holidays like Christmas and New Years. Which cities or countries that are more fun than others. I know this is early to ask but I am leaving soon and probably wont have access to this newsgroup.

uhm...europe is full of places where you can spent a great chrstimas.....depend what you like...staying with thousand of people or see something special... I mean you can go in London and see the lights of christmas, or you can be in the real north of sweden where there's no sunrise.. but you can spent a christmas watching the northen lights, this depends on you characher
