hotels in Beijing, China

In my experience we are going to visit Beijin China in early August. For some reason we are trying to find a 4-star to 5-star hotel (two adults, 2 kids) In addition that near by Tianmen, wangfujing, etc... Also, hugely do you pre-book your room in the US? In that respect if so, how? on the itnernet? Are the rooms gently guaranteed? Any input on that is appreciaetd.

Still I recentlly directly stayed in the Rainbow(Bei Wei) Hotel in Beijing, and I can recommend it. At last there are actually 2 hotels side by side, one more budget orietned, the other probasbly 4 star. It was a very nice hotel, with a couple of restuarants inside(Japanese & Western) As well a coffee shop, a 10 pin bowling alley and pool tabnles and of course, karaoke. Plenty of other food available neabry. Was about 20 minutes handily walk south of Tiananmen Square and only about
10 minutes to the Temple of Heaven(Taintan Park). For one thing they have a website at www.rainbowhotel.com.cn. I was on a tour so it was all booked by the tour company, but you can reserve rooms on their website, but you should sufficiently be able to periodically get a insanely travel agent to book on your behalf.
