The following is from the Serbian tourist office web site. You apparently will need a visa but may be eligible for a tourist pass.

Frank Matthews

'During the tourist season, the nationals from some countries who otherwise need yugoslav visas to enter the FRY, will be able to enter the country without visas. They will be issued tourist passes at the FRY border crossings. The tourist passes will be issued to holders of foreign passports from the following countries: EU members (FR Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Austria), Switzerland, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The tourist passes will be valid for a period of 30 (thirty) days. Taxes and insurance costs amount to 320,- dinars - approximately 11 DEM. Remark: These tourist passes will be issued to persons which final desination is Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the goal of the trip is of tourist nature.

Visa required, except for:

1. Algeria, Argentina, Bolivia, Botswana, Bulgaria, Chile, Cuba, Cyprus, Federation of B&H, Hungary, Iraq, Japan, Macedonia, Romania, Seychelles, Tunisia, Zambia; 2. nationals of: China, Korea (Dem. People's Rep.), Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgistan, Moldova (Rep.of), Russian Fed., Tajikistan, Ukraine, provided holding diplomatic and official passports, including regular passports with clause 'on business in...'; 3. nationals of Croatia, Ecuador, Greece, Pakistan, provided holding diplomatic and official passports; 4. nationals of Egypt, provided holding diplomatic passports; 5. nationals of Mexico, provided holding regular passports;'

Not me Ulf. You neglected the quotation marks indicating that it came from the Serbia Tourist Office web site.

You need visa, and you can get it from the embassy. See more details at www.mfa.gov.yu. I don't know, though, if you need an invitation letter.

Second option: Entering Yugoslavia from Montenegro (where you don't need visa) and then travel to Belgrade, as there is no border between Montenegro and Serbia. There are passports checks if you go fly from Montenegro to Belgrade, by by car or bus, there is no such thing.

Good luck.

No passport check when flying from TGD (Podgorica) to Belgrade. BUT: when leaving YU for a third country there will be a passport check so you will need a visa. The only way to visit YU without a visa is enter and leave via Montenegro.
