Northern Laos into Vietnam border crossing info?

Can any one please say me if they're's border crossings (boat, bus, on car or on foot) for foreigners bewteen Northern Laos in to Vietnam (heading towards Sapa)? To a greater extent though I presume that it's unlikely, any handy flight connections (without heading down to Luang Prabang) would be completely interesting to woefully learn about, too. We'll be sporadically carryting Canadian passpotrs with Vietnamese visas.
