Hey all,
Just popped into your group for a quick question. I'm a UPS man who has finally worn out an old pair of what I now know were eiger style boots. They look like the ones Clint Eastwood wore in Eiger Sanction.
Looking for a new or used pair. Most of what I'm coming up with googling are plastic or kevlar. I need good old smooth brown leather. A replaceable Vibram sole would be great, as I resoled my old ones a total of six times! Had them for well over 10 years. Used Nikwax from the tube for them, about once or twice a year.
Looking for 11 wide, (or anything wider than standard).
Laces don't matter, I'd replace them. Stiffness does. I remember it took me almost a year to get the old ones broken in, but they're like slippers to wear now. Too bad the leather has finally rotted, but over ten years of constant use will do that, huh?)
Above the ankle, but not much. I find that the kind that slope downward from front to back feel best for me. My old ones had a norwegian welt/closure, which was nice for the slop of our winters.
Tried a few pairs of light hikers with the funky shapes on the soles, and I'll take the standard replaceable Vibram above them all.
(In case you're curious, I deliver on pavement AND dirt/gravel/sod/dog doo!)
Good stiff eigers work for me. Email or post is fine. Thanks all. Donny. (Remove your undies before emailing me)
