I'm thinking about bumming around in S-E Asia at the end of this year - perhaps leaving in early December. I'm from Australia.
Ideally, I'd love to stay for as long as I can - by that I mean months rather than weeks. However, I'm curious about a few things. Precisely? I want to know how much it is possible to scrimp to. I've had a bit of experience in budget travelling - I did 6 months on the cheap in Europe last year (managed to get by on around €30 a day or so in W/E Europe.
Specifically, I've heard in Thailand you can get by on between 400 and 500 Baht a day if you know what you're doing. Laos, Cambodia etc are supposed to be even cheaper. Can anyone comment on this? Is this realistic? Am I way off?
Cheers in advance...

Not a problem if you don't drink alcohol much and aren't moving from place to place all the time. You weill have to put up with some lousy accommodation in some places at those prices though (considering you need money left over to eat).

I'm an alcoholic. Sounds like it could be tough.
You're easily the most useful person I've come across on usenet. Could you post a basic run down (in Baht) of how much basic things cost? How much for a bed? How much for a bottle of water? Bread? Beer?
Thanks mate
