Peru and Brazil

hey all! im planning a backpacking trip from easter island to peru and then brazil...i want to know as much advice about doing this with one other girl as possible...im on a tight budget(like $1000AU) for 1 month....is this possible?? can we camp out?hire a van?? or is it too dangerous?
we go in july through to august....please help.

You should plan to spend about 40$ each a day throughout the trip. Camping and camping vans can be rented at least in Brazil, not sure about Peru and this cheapen the expenses.

I would try to plan the trip with a copy of the lonely planet (last edition as much is changing) and start by thinking what you want to see and build the trip around these places.
