My daughter is backpacking this summer through Britain, France, Italy, Greece, Germany and the Netherlands. What phone card would you recommend from those countries... and is there one she can use to call home from ALL of them? Thanks.

For best rates she should probably buy cards in each country. Won't take more than 5 minutes of her time; it's not the sort of thing worth planning in advance.

Recommendation...NONE!

I had nothing but trouble with them last year; this year webmail served for communications perfectly and was much cheaper...

Depends where you are. There's an international SIM card which fits into any GSM mobile, which is called riiing. In most of Europe, you pay nothing for incoming calls, and calls back home are quite cheap. It is pre paid. It will allow you to call you daughter whenever you want, she pays nothing.

Go to www.riiing.com and ask them if they have distribution in your country. If you are in Australia/NZ, please contact me directly.
