I am going to Europe for an undetermined amount of time, but somewhere around a year. This gives me problems when booking a flight, it costing me around 700 dollars to fly to over (they're no one way flights to Zurich so I will have to fly to Frankfort or Paris and take the train) I was wondering how it would work if someone wanted a flight back and could use my return ticket if they met me somewhere. That way we would both save money, anyone tried this before? Any advise on this would be great.
Thanks, Michael

You should be able to buy an open ticket (with a return date of up to one year away; book your return with something like 30 days notice) for less than that. Talk to a travel agent. I did it 10 years ago from Newark to London for less than the going RT rate.

I asked about that and was told that the ticket price had gone up a lot, and I would be looking at something aroud 3000, way to much if you ask me. Thanks for the help though.

Holy cow. Are you sure you weren't quoted that price for a round-the-world ticket? That price sounds much more like a one-directional RTW.
Check rec.travel.air. They're much more knowledgeable about this than I.
