ok, remember where your good doctor is coming from. 1. It never hurts to prescribe somethng that will add to his till 2. They prefer to err on the side of caution 3. They have no idea, usually, of the details about where you are going, your personal level of wariness and circumspection, and what the conditions will be. 4. They must be wary of not addressing preventative measures just in case you are the one in a million who suffer something and have a good lawyer, that they could have prevented.
That said, I have been prescribed the most amazing things over the last 35 years! I truly think they mean well, mostly, but do not make the mistake of handing over responsibility for your health and safety to them. that is yours and yours alone.
I am not a doctor, and i don't pretend to be one. I can tell you that between Singapore and Bangkok, yo have to go waaaaaaay off the beaten track to screw it up. It's a very tame route.
I didn't give any advice, did I? Sorry, you'll have to decide. I wouldn't take the vaccine. Also, please remember that dogs in Asia, for the most part, are wild and do bite. The mere act of raising your hand as if to throw something usually suffices to disperse them. I also carry a slingshot, I kid you not! It's for monkeys mostly, also for the occasional pie-dog, and to pass the time. I trust my slingshot more than the vaccine. I guess that's my advice- get a slingshot for your daypack
