Depending on how old you are and your status (student or under 26) - first try Sta travels and then try different websites. Print them off then go to some local travel agents and see what price they quote you. if its too much then say you have a beta offer from so and so. try flight center as a last resort and they price match. even beta check out the local newspapers and then phone around and say that so and so quoted you so and so (decrease the amount by say £10 each time). write down a reference numbers and then say you get back to them in a few minutes. Basically if your willing to spend a day out you can get some really savings.
I saved £150 on my rtw ticket by doing this.
Another thing i will say is make sure you book a good airline line Singapore or emerites as if your traveling long distances then you wana comfortable ride. also depending on your airplane some long distance airlines have two seats on the sides of the plane near the back instead of three. these are generally great seat as you can request a window seat and there's space between the seat and the plane wall to put your stuff (e.g. some bag, blankets etc). basically these give you some space in a cramped commercial airline!
