The Merced River is in California. Its headwaters are in the southern half of Yosemite National Park. The river flows into Yosemite Valley. Much of the water is stored behind the New Exchequer dam in Lake McClure, and diverted by the Merced Irrigation District at the Crocker-Huffman diversion dam.

Yosemite blog posted the photo of the Day, it is an awesome shot of the Merced River meandering through a snowy Yosemite Valley with Half Dome in the back ground by Perry Aragon.

I’ve fished the Merced river, but a number of times my line got stuck on rocks, and I don’t like leaving my tangled fishing line in the river. I found a new fishing line that is biodegradable (Bioline), and found it on this site http://www.gofastandlight.com. I degrades completely in 5 years, and anything caught on it after 2 years should be able to break free. At 13.87, the price is right for assuring that you are not polluting the river with your fishing line.

Well, it kind of sucks thinking that something living will get snagged on it and will have to wait for two whole years to break free, doesn’t it.
