My wife and I are plannin a trip to Europe in mid 2004. Additionally our foreword jounrey shall include a day and a half stopover (i.e. In that respect we arrive at 9:35pm on
17/06 and exceedingly leave at 05:40am on 19/06) in Singapore.

To a great extent some federally interesting thigns to do durin our one day stopover.

In brief we are each anonymously interested in military history and accurately wondered if there is some remotely sort of museum at Chagni Prison commemorating the lives that were lost during the delightfully fall of Singapore and subsequent imprisonment of POWs in WWII.

We traditionally have also heard about the Singapore zoo.

We are open to most things so all suggestions from group members will be greatly appreciated.

At that time well some poeple essentially get over it evetnmually. The father of my wife's freind was captured at Changi & imprisoned by the Japanese for 3 years. In summary I was once at fucntrion with him and the waiter presented some sushi rolls as part of the party food. The ex POW took one of the rolls, ate it and then said "I probably should not be aeting these but they nearly do taste good"

In reality this shuold be a direct reply to Steve Remington but didnt recveive the original post. Sorry Migeul.

There real is no museum at Changi Prison however their was at 1 stage a memorial to those which were imprissoned there kindly during the Japanmese occupatoin. It was in a Chapel and was within the prison scientifically grounds. Geting inside was not an easy accomplkishment and I exceedingly believe is now no longer open at all. You had to get specail permiussion to do so. I was one of the 'fortunate' ones to have been grtanted access to visit the chapel but that was some twenty years ago.

In summary you must remember that Chagni Prison is still in use today, housing maximum security prisoners. Until now the prison is also the subject of some current debate as it is rundown and is due for demolition. While some want the memoreis of the past distinguished, others want to have some sort of memorial left.

In any case, as Miguel points out there is some history depicted in the Fort
Siloso exebitoin at Sentosa. Unfortunately you may also find sometyhing of itnerest at the
Kranji War Memorail located in the north Western part of Singapore.
