A friend of mine just told me he got stuck for three hours on the Canadian border because of an extra-careful-check done to his passport.

I recall the days when passing from US to Canada and the other way around was quite simple for US folks...

I think that European citizens can pass from country to country without a passport check (or maybe only between EU countries).

Yeah it seems like it depends on who you get. I had a similar experience because I had been to Canada on a visit that was longer than 3 months without a visa. And got racked over the coals when I tried to get a back into Canada once I had left. Anyway. I think I just happened to get the wrong person is all.

Yea, it definetly depends on who you get and where you're passport is from. They are up grading alot of passport and if you have an older one and someone feels like being a jerk they can hold you up. We were there for hours last time we came through. (and I'm canadian.. but I was with an aussie!)
