We are interested in any information on how to purchase tickets for a train trip from China to Amsterdam, NL (or Warsaw). We prefer to fly one way to China, travel for three weeks, then come back from China to Europe, stopping in Mongolia, Russia... Has anyone done this and if so, could you send me e-mail with information. What is important is that we have a 'reservation' before we leave or that we can be assured of getting tickets in China (when we arrive) for the return trip (without losing days of searching and waiting in lines!). Also, does anyone know of inexpensive flights from Amsterdam to China, one way?

This is pretty easy to do. Tran-Mongolian or Trans-Manchurian from Beijing to Moscow. Moscow to Warsaw, Berlin or Koln overnight.

Have a look at <http://www.seat61.com/>. You might want to consider getting the Trans-Siberian Handbook <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1873756429/ ref=sr_aps_books_...>

There is loads on the web, just use google, <http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Trans-Siberian>

You may want to check round-trip prices, as well as one-way. Often, I have found that the round-trip prices are less expensive.
