Train to Marrakech from Tangiers

Hi there

Wonder if anyone can help me. Myself and my boyfriend are going to take the ferry and then the day train to Marrakech at the end of this month.

We just wanted to know if anyone had any tips. We are planning on getting the ferry from Tarifa to Tangiers and then the train to Marakech but as you cannot get moroccan currency outside Morocco so will arrive there without the right currency.

We heard there was no banks nearby and the train station at Tangiers did not accept euros - so does anyone know firstly - how far it is from the port of Tangiers to the train station at Tangiers and if there is a way to get money changed at the port or a bank anywhere and secondly what the deal is at the train station with regards to buying a ticket.

I think the main thing I need to know is how to pay my train fare and ensure I get the train on time....

Em Bee. I don't think you need to worry too much. I happen to know from personal experience that 'bribes' in the form of foreign currency are very acceptable there.
