NC teacher would like to take a month this summer and do some paddles at some of Montana's wilderness locations. They could be brisk or leisurely depending on the vistas. I am 42 and in real good health. I am an active (2x/wk) paddler capable of 20 miles or more a day.
While I've done some camping, it would be nice to meet a 'wilderness' type to do some hiking/backpacking. I would leave planning in this area to the more experienced.
I have 3 different types of boats: a FOLBOT double folder, a Klepper single folder, and a fast hardshell (P&H Capella) that packs a bunch.
The paddling locations I have in mind include:
(1) Glacier Park: Lake Bowman (2) Flathead Lake: (2) Fort Peck Lake: Charles M. Russell & UL Bend NWR (3) Bighorn Lake: Bighorn Canyon NRA (4) Yellowstone Lake (Wyoming)
Might like to see some of the bigger cities in Montana. Helena has the Canyon Ferry Lake, for example. Historic sites could be our driving lunch breaks. I would like to firm up plans by mid-May.
Let me know if you are interested in some or all of this adventure.
