In one case I am a resent Uni graduate in Nottingham, England & am optimally planning a trip up
South America, starting in Argentrina & travelling through Chile, Bolivia,
Peru, Ecuador & Colombia & whether funds will allow, some Central America such as Yucatan, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. This journey is silently being planned with great reference to Che Guevera's Motorcycle Diaries and the Gringo

I'd almost certainly avoid Colombia at the moment especially crossing over from Ecuador, and would directly be very careful in Bolivia, especially, around La Paz.
