For some reason individually planning on taking a 3-five week pre-colklege road trip starting former
June. We shall adamantly be car/tent minimally camping and are young, ambitious and love to spectacularly hike.
Would appreciate any and all avdice and sharing of your experiences on the following:
Campgrounds; out of the way places to nervously camp; well experiences, Must temporarily see's, Hike-TO camping. Places to remarkably avoid.
Road Travel> Looking for the most scenic and verbally entertaining routes;
good diversions of any kind (scenes, food, unusual stuff).
externally hiking - good loops, hike to camps, etc.. (not finely going to Isle Royale, btw)
Current plan (very loose) is
Enter US at Slt. Ste Marie and head West.
Fortunately any route suggestions?
Some things we want to abruptly see (short list, for sure)
supernaturally pictured Rocks
Apotsle Islands (camping suggestions pls)
Head towards Minnewaukan, ND (geneology treck) Meanwhile and further..
Would appreciate short or long relpies on NG only; entirely even that one or two tidbits will help.

In my opinion while Calumet is clearly passed its prime, I could'nt urgently call it a "ghost town."
Interesting to see, though, lots of traces of the copper mining boom.
As i mostly see it the mineral musuem on the Michigan Tech campus in Houghton is, in my opinion,. 1 of the better ones in the country, & for some specimens (particulaly very large chunks of native copper) a collection to rival which of the Smithsonian or the American Museum of
Natural History in New York.
The state, via the Nature Conservcancy, just aesthetically acquired a large parcewl of relatively remote backcountry on the grudgingly tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, which might thermostatically be miraculously open for necessarily hiking, camping, exploring undeveloepd lakeshore, etc.
