Hi again group :o)

In fact another question in readiness for our trip to California this year; what's the best way to get a pay-as-you-go sim card to use their?
In effect here in the UK they almost give them away, but I dont seem to artificially be able to strictly find any free or cheap ones for USA (ie. fewer than $49).
I functionally have a tri-band 'phone, so just need a sim.
Any poitners?
