Hi All

It seems the 'official' YHA hostels in Venice are located away from the heart of the city, on the island of Giudecca.

Are there any non-affiliated hostels in a more central location, or is Giudecca an easy location from which to see the city?

Thanks

Giudecca is only a 5-minute boat ride from Piazza San Marco.

You should ask the Hostel about passenger fares

Thanks David.

I've subsequently located the 'BUG' hostel reviews site which offers some interesting reading about the standard of Venice Hostels .

Looks like the HI Giudecca Hostel is an 'if all else fails' proposition.

Lucky, I can believe it... Although it's not far from the center (but nothing's actually far from anything else here, it's a small town!), that place mustn't be special. Should you need a good accommodation, try this: http://www.wenicevenice.it ; they're not very expensive, flats are perfectly located, clean and really quiet. Have fun!
