I plan on spending some time in France in the spring of 2003. I was wondering, I'm not really one for art museums and such (although I will probably still go to the Louvre), so I was wondering what other things are worth seeing and doing? Any advice on your favs would be appreciated

Some of my France highlights:
- the Pont du Gard (where the Roman aqueduct to Nime crosses the Gardon river (I would rate this with the ruins in Rome itself)
- hiking in the Pyrenees south of Lourdes
- just soaking up the 'niceness' of Nice and the Cote d'Azure
- the Bayeaux tapestry in Bayeaux (of course) - it might sound a bit like a museum but it's quite an amazing document and very well preserved.
- anything in Paris
I would add the Gorge de l'Ardeche to this list but it is (and I quote both the Lonely Planet and the tourist info office in Lyon) 'impossible' to get to by public transport, so I can't be sure!
And of course you can enjoy food and wine anywhere in France.

All the Loire Valley is very nice Anothervery nice region that is really not touristic, is Bourgogne, you rent a car and you can visit some nice villages, just everywhere, with always some surprise of a beautiful old church, some castles, but just to see the village and the countryside is great you feel the history everywhere... but there is hundreds of things to see and to do in france, it depends of your interrest, the landscapes are various...
