I'm staying in Las Vegas for four days in September and I want to see the Grand Canyon.
Can you recommend a day trip?
Thanks

I went with Scenic airlines. Flight out over the grand canyon on a fixed wing aircraft, buffet lunch near the airport, then a bus trip into the national park stopping at a few viewing areas. All included commentary. Other companies offer similar.
It is an expensive choice, but if you have limited time its worth considering.
Beware if you are a nervous flier, the uneven ground, hot air and small aircraft make for a bumpy ride. JILL

hi I went by helicopter two copters fly out one flies high and one low on the wayout and then vice versa on the way back, sorry cant remeber the company. For lunch you set down on the canyon floor itself and have a packlunch and 'sparkling wine' I was staying at the luxor so must have found it out from their. It was excellent! Nick

The Grand Canyon isn't a canyon. It's a gorge.

Whatever mode of transport you take, you really have to go right into the canyon to really get a flavour for it. It's an absolutely mind-blowing location. I was there in November and we hiked down to the bottom, camped and came back up the next day. However, there are organised hikes I believe and also you can go down&up on donkeys or mules if you're not into the hiking. However I'd really recommend the slow descent into the canyon cause it's only amazing to be going through several geological, floral and climatic zones from the 7000ft at the rim to the 2500 ft at the river. Did you know that the rocks at the bottom are 2 Billion years old!?!? There are no fossils in those rocks cause there was hardly any life as we know it on earth at that time. It really feels like going back in time, into another world. And I've waffled on too much ... the tourist information centre on the South Rim of the canyon will have all the info on hiking down, tours, donkey rides etc.
