Most of us are or where Budget travelers, backpacking and roughing it in different cultures around the world, often, in countries were taking time off just to gallivant around the world is unheard of.
When Does Budget Travel Become Exploitation? is a very interesting post to read and think about when planing a trip or even, while being on one, in India, or Africa or South America.
I have run into many of the things Ernesto mentions, especially haggling over things like accommodation and clothing that are priced at practically laughable sums, even for someone that is traveling on a tight budget.
I would love to know what your thoughts are on this.

My wife and I are budget travelers. However, we are also frugal at home. We check out movies from the library instead of buying them, we generally cook instead of going out to eat. Even when in a new country, we often find local recipes to prepare ourselves instead of heading to a restaurant.
We try to keep in mind the circumstances of locals. We might haggle over a price, but we also try to do the research and planning so that we have a reasonable idea what the price can be talked down to.
That is probably the correct attitude.
Very interesting reading thanks for the post!
