I haven't been for a while, but in general the Southern part is fine. Friendly people no problems around Kampala plenty of places to stay. The country is nice, go and see the source of the Nile, and there are lovely places on the lake.
The fishing is great, the scenery is fantastic. One word of advice stay out of the northern areas, there is still a very big rebel contingent in the north and they are very active, not a place to go. I always employ a driver as the roads are almost non existent in places due to lack of maintenance.
