That's hard to do when you live in a city 50 weeks a year. 'Merging' takes more experience than one can gain in a few weeks a year of hiking or learn from any amount of book-learning. And I fear those of us who have lived in cities all of our lives, however much we may love the outdoors, have become much too accustomed to a fast hectic pace ever to slow down for long.
It's nice to pretend for a few weeks a year, though.
Absolutely. Also I suggest we not tell the other city dwellers it's out there.
To us city dwellers, 'survival' means nothing more than staying alive if we get lost in an unfamiliar environment. And when we say we've conquered mountains, what we really mean is that we've conquered our own limitations.
